Courses

Below is some information on courses I have taught previously.

Courses at Rensselaer Polytechnic Insititute

Fields and Waves (ECSE 2100)

An applied electromagnetism course that covered transmission line theory, Maxwell’s Equations, and other related topics. I employed an interative standards-based method in which students were assessed based on mastery of defined Core Skills which they could re-test throughout the semester.

Computer Components and Operations (ECSE 2610)

An introductory digital design course covering Boolean algebra, combinational and sequential logic, finite state machines, and related topics. The course had a lab component in which I used an “Alpha and Omega Labs” model. Students could participate in the Alpha Lab track, which was more scripted, or the Omega Lab track, which employed open-ended design principles. This was my adaptation of a concept developed by Dr. Shayla Sawyer for her Introduction to Circuits class.

Computer Architecture, Networks and Operating Systems (ECSE 2660)

A introductory course on computer architecture using the MIPS assembly language and building on ECSE 2610.
